📖 About This Calculator

The Overworld to Nether Calculator helps Minecraft players find the exact Nether coordinates that match their Overworld location. In Minecraft, the Nether is 8 times smaller than the Overworld — meaning every 1 block in the Nether equals 8 blocks in the Overworld. If you build a portal in the Nether at the wrong coordinates, it will not link to your Overworld portal. This calculator does the math for you instantly — just enter your Overworld X, Y, Z coordinates and get the exact Nether portal location where you need to build.

ABOUT NETHER → OVERWORLD CALCULATOR

The Nether to Overworld Calculator helps Minecraft players find the exact Overworld coordinates that match their current Nether location. Since the Nether is 8 times smaller than the Overworld, every 1 block you travel in the Nether equals 8 blocks in the Overworld. This is especially useful when you are already inside the Nether and want to know exactly where your portal will come out in the Overworld — or where you need to build a new Overworld portal to connect it correctly. Just enter your Nether X, Y, Z and get the exact Overworld location instantly.

🚀 How to Use

1 Open the calculator and make sure you are on the "Overworld → Nether" tab
2 In Minecraft, press F3 to open the debug screen and note your current X, Y, Z coordinates
3 Enter your Overworld X coordinate in the X field
4 Enter your Overworld Y coordinate in the Y field (optional but recommended)
5 Enter your Overworld Z coordinate in the Z field
6 Click the "Calculate Nether Coordinates" button
7 You will instantly see the Nether X, Y, Z coordinates
8 Go to those coordinates inside the Nether and build your portal there
9 Your Nether portal will now be perfectly linked to your Overworld portal
10 Note: Y coordinate stays the same in both dimensions. Only X and Z are divided by 8.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

Guessing Nether coordinates almost always results in a portal that spawns you in the wrong Overworld location or creates an entirely new unlinked portal far from your base. Since every 1 block in the Nether equals exactly 8 blocks in the Overworld, even being off by just 10 blocks in the Nether means your portal will be 80 blocks off in the Overworld. The calculator eliminates this error completely by doing the exact division or multiplication instantly.
No, the Y coordinate stays exactly the same in both dimensions — only the X and Z coordinates are affected by the 8:1 ratio. So if your Overworld Y is 64, your Nether portal should also be built at Y 64. However, it is still recommended to enter your Y coordinate in the calculator so you have a complete set of coordinates ready when you go to build your portal in the Nether.
The Overworld to Nether tab is for when you are standing in the Overworld and want to know where to build your Nether portal so it links back correctly. The Nether to Overworld tab is for the opposite situation — when you are already inside the Nether and want to know exactly where your portal will come out in the Overworld. Both calculators use the same 8:1 ratio but in opposite directions, dividing or multiplying depending on which dimension you are starting from.
On Java Edition, simply press F3 on your keyboard to open the debug screen — your exact X, Y, and Z coordinates are displayed on the left side of the screen. On Bedrock Edition, go to Settings, enable Show Coordinates, and your coordinates will appear on the top left corner of your screen during gameplay. Note down all three values carefully before entering them into the calculator for an accurate result.
This usually happens for one of a few reasons. First, make sure you built your Nether portal within 2 to 3 blocks of the exact calculated coordinates, since Minecraft links portals within a search radius and will grab the nearest one. Second, if another portal already exists nearby in the Nether, Minecraft may have linked to that one instead. Third, double check that you entered the correct Overworld coordinates from the F3 screen and did not accidentally swap your X and Z values, which is a very common mistake.
