📖 About This Calculator

The GPA Calculator is a free online tool designed for both US and UK students to calculate their academic performance quickly and accurately.

For US students, simply enter your subject names, credit hours, and letter grades (A+, A, B+, B, C, D, F) and the calculator will instantly compute your weighted GPA on a 0.0 to 4.0 scale — the standard used by most American colleges and universities.

For UK students, enter your module names, credit values, and percentage marks. The calculator will compute your weighted average and display your degree classification — First Class (1st), Upper Second (2:1), Lower Second (2:2), Third Class (3rd), or Fail — based on the standard UK grading framework.

Whether you are a student tracking your semester progress, a parent monitoring academic performance, or an advisor helping students plan their academic future, this tool gives you fast and reliable results in seconds — no sign-up required.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

In the United States, GPA is measured on a 0.0 to 4.0 scale. An A or A+ grade equals 4.0 (the highest possible), while an F equals 0.0. Most US universities require a minimum GPA of 2.0 to remain in good academic standing.
UK universities use a Degree Classification system instead of GPA. Final results are awarded based on weighted percentage averages: 70% and above earns a First Class degree, 60–69% an Upper Second (2:1), 50–59% a Lower Second (2:2), 40–49% a Third Class, and below 40% is considered a Fail.
Yes. Although this tool is designed for semester-based calculation, you can add all subjects from multiple semesters at once. The calculator will compute the overall weighted GPA or average automatically, giving you an accurate cumulative result.
The calculator will show an alert and will not process the result. Make sure credit hours are at least 1 or above, grades are properly selected in US mode, and percentage marks are between 0 and 100 in UK mode. Always double-check your entries before calculating.
